Rain or shine, we’re holding a special paint drop-off event for Hemet and the surrounding area. You may bring most types of paint, stain and varnish. Businesses that generate less than 220 pounds (about 20-30 gallons) of hazardous waste per month may bring any amount of latex or oil-based paint. Businesses that generate more than 220 pounds of hazardous waste per month may bring any amount of latex paint, but they cannot bring oil-based paint to this event.

A stellar roster of local and urban agriculture experts is slated to impart insight and ingenuity at the 2nd Annual GrowRIVERSIDE Conference: The Future of Local Food scheduled for June 11-13 at The Riverside Convention Center in Riverside, CA.

Permaculture Voices (San Diego) — March 4-8

Permaculture Voices – PV2 will be held on March 4-8, 2015.  It will be located at Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina, 1380 Harbor Island Drive, San Diego.

1.  Learn from the best.  The world’s top designers, practitioners and innovators share their tools and techniques, their methodology, and their experiences.  Speakers will focus on the practical over the theoretical to help you put more ideas into action.

2. Get Inspired.  Hear from some amazing people pushing the limits to create the world that we all dream of. These aren’t just people talking about great things, these are people doing great things.

3. Connect with your community.  It’s not just about the speakers.  Everyone matters.  Everyone’s contribution is vital.  No longer can we all be observers, it’s time to see what can we co-create together.

4. Have fun.  You have worked hard all year.  It’s March in San Diego when most of the US is still frozen over, so come on out and kick back with some like minded folks.  We added two even socials this year to help create the conditions for fun to happen.

When will it be?

March 4 to 8, 2015.  That’s Wednesday through Sunday.

Tentative Schedule:

Pre-conference sessions will take place from 8AM to 12PM on Wednesday the 4th.

The opening keynote will start around 2PM on Wednesday the 4th.

Mycelium is organizing all of the cross pollination, networking, and group interaction for PV2.

Mycelium are highly experienced in facilitators, call them Experiential Designers. They get events, they understand how people interact and learn better, and they get permaculture. I really believe that they are some of the best people in the world when it comes to executing and delivering meaningful experiences. I have been working with them over the last few months to design the experience of PV2, and they are joining me to talk about what PV2 will be like from as an experience and why this part of the event is so important, yet so often get’s overlooked at other conferences.

Theodore Payne Foundation (Sun Valley) — First Sundays

Theodore Payne Foundation offers a FREE tour of their gardens on First Sundays from 8 am – 1 pm.   Theodore Payne Foundation for Wild Flowers and Native Plants is located at 10459 Tuxford Street, Sun Valley, CA 91352.

The Theodore Payne Foundation, established 1960, operates a year-round, retail nursery offering the region’s largest and most interesting selection of California native plant – hundreds of different species and cultivars, many of which are drought tolerant and low maintenance. Our Education Center and Outreach programs offer classes and field trips for adults and children.

Our mission is to preserve, propagate and promote California native plants, seeds and wild flowers – native treasures that conserve water and other resources, provide habitat for wildlife, and add color and fragrance to the garden. 

Our Sun Valley grounds in the NE corner of the San Fernando Valley (map) are a great place to visit. The TPF store stocks books, seeds, garden tools and more. You’ll also find an art gallery, picnic area, hiking trails and expert staff to answer questions about native plants. On-leash dogs are welcome. There is no admission fee.
